Spring is here and bike rides are on the way...

We hope that like us you are excited to get back to cycling activities and events, as we look to rebuild after a challenging winter and get the country back riding together

– this is British Cycling introducing the latest plans in  ‘The Way Forward’

We’re planning bike rides for the summer working with Safety Advisory Groups and following Covid guidance and adding them to the website – if we have to change any dates we’ll contact people who’ve signed up.

While things are starting to look more hopeful for a return to large-scale
cycling
events this year, there remains much uncertainty about when and in what
areas of activity restrictions will be lifted. We are awaiting a statement from the DCMS
on 22nd March clarifying the way forward but in the meantime, you can read this latest
statement from British Cycling
following their meeting with Sport England and
other parties regarding their plans for a return of organised cycling events in the UK.

With that continuing uncertainty about the timing of relaxations on restrictions, Bike Events
have - in a joint decision with the Christie
charity - decided to move the date of the 2021
Manchester 100 Bike Ride
back to its usual Autumn slot, and the ride will now take place
on
Sunday 5th September

If you’ve already registered for the ride, your entry will be transferred to the
new date, automatically.  If that date is unsuitable for you, you can transfer your place

to
2022  or to another person so that they can take part. If you cannot, or do not

wish to do so, you can apply for a refund (a small cancellation
fee will
apply to cover costs).

To transfer to 2022, please email using this link

To transfer your place to another person, please email to let us know using this link or in writing,
and include their name, address and contact details (telephone and email). It is essential that
you provide this, as every rider needs to give the name and telephone number of a
nominated person in case of any emergency.

To apply for a refund please email us using this link

Keep Cycling in 2021!

We hope that since we’ve seen you last that you’ve been able to keep cycling, whether virtually or in the great outdoors...

We did run one bike ride in 2020 (The Norwich 100/60/30 in September) which was a great success and gave us valuable lessons in running a Covid-safe event.     Hundreds of riders enjoyed the chance to be on a real, rather than virtual, organised cycling event through the Norfolk countryside, with all the usual back-up - signed routes, marshals, refreshment stops, cycle mechanics and food and beer from the Socially Distanced Bar tent at the finish.

We’re planning on bringing you something like a full schedule of fantastic rides in 2021. If you’ve been keeping an eye on the website you’ll see that we've rescheduled most of the 2020 rides to new dates this year – visit the homepage for details – and transferred riders to the new dates automatically.    We’ll be contacting all registered riders about arrangements shortly.

As rides and dates are confirmed, we’ll open bookings on the website - with the ever-changing situation with lockdowns and permissions to run mass-rides, we may be asked to rearrange some dates but if so will publish these as soon as we have them.

Covid Guidance and Measures

We’ve all got used to Social Distancing and we'll be following the guidance from British Cycling, Safety Advisory Groups and Public Health England.

So expect one way systems at the Start, signs to guide and remind riders to socially distance, physical screening and contactless payments, individual start times and being set off in small groups.    Once on route, each rider is asked to maintain a safe distance between themselves and other.

We’ll email riders a set of guidelines in advance of the event and give updates on the day.   Of course, riders must NOT to take part in any ride if they have symptoms consistent with Covid-19. Contact details of riders will be made available to NHS Test and Trace if required.

Cycling is, of course, encouraged in these Covid times, and by its nature is outdoors and socially-distanced, as well as being great for body and mind, and charities if you’re raising money for one.

So we look forward to seeing you at the Start line, in the meantime, stay healthy - keep pedalling, and let us know if there’s somewhere you’d like us to organise a ride....
