Keep Cycling in 2021!
We hope that since we’ve seen you last that you’ve been able to keep cycling, whether virtually or in the great outdoors...
We did run one bike ride in 2020 (The Norwich 100/60/30 in September) which was a great success and gave us valuable lessons in running a Covid-safe event. Hundreds of riders enjoyed the chance to be on a real, rather than virtual, organised cycling event through the Norfolk countryside, with all the usual back-up - signed routes, marshals, refreshment stops, cycle mechanics and food and beer from the Socially Distanced Bar tent at the finish.
We’re planning on bringing you something like a full schedule of fantastic rides in 2021. If you’ve been keeping an eye on the website you’ll see that we've rescheduled most of the 2020 rides to new dates this year – visit the homepage for details – and transferred riders to the new dates automatically. We’ll be contacting all registered riders about arrangements shortly.
As rides and dates
are confirmed, we’ll open bookings on the website - with the ever-changing
situation with lockdowns and permissions to run mass-rides, we may be asked to
rearrange some dates but if so will publish these as soon as we have them.
Covid Guidance and Measures
We’ve all got used to Social Distancing and we'll be following
the guidance from British Cycling, Safety Advisory Groups and Public Health
England.
So expect one way
systems at the Start, signs to guide and remind riders to socially distance,
physical screening and contactless payments, individual start times and being
set off in small groups. Once on
route, each rider is asked to maintain a safe distance between themselves and
other.
We’ll email riders a set of guidelines in advance of
the event and give updates on the day. Of course, riders must NOT to take part in
any ride if they have symptoms consistent with Covid-19. Contact details
of riders will be made available to NHS Test and Trace if required.
Cycling is, of course, encouraged in these Covid times, and by its nature is outdoors and socially-distanced, as well as being great for body and mind, and charities if you’re raising money for one.
So we look forward
to seeing you at the Start line, in the meantime, stay healthy - keep pedalling,
and let us know if there’s somewhere you’d like us to organise a ride....
Best wishes - The Bike Events Team
